I am an award-nominated, published author with more than 30 years of experience across both the publishing and writing worlds. Alongside my novels, I’ve written hundreds of features, columns and articles for magazines and newspapers, as well as stories for journals and anthologies. I know the exhilaration of recognition – and equally, the disappointment that rejection brings.

Writing has been a lifelong practice for me, and I consider it a privilege to share what I’ve learned with other writers – whether they’re seeking meaningful progress on a creative project, or wanting to use writing as a reflective and transformative practice.

I work with emerging and established writers, academics, thinkers, professionals and creatively curious people who want a thoughtful, committed partner for their writing life.

No two writers need exactly the same thing so when we work together, we begin as thinking partners. We explore your project, ideas, ambitions and creative challenges, and from there develop a way of working that is focused, supportive, intellectually rigorous and of course, fun.

My services include Book Coaching, Creative Mentorship, Beta reading, Manuscript Appraisal and Developmental Editing.

The information below offers an overview of the different ways we can work together.

Tuesday Write Club (Online)

“The art of writing is the art of applying the seat of the pants to the seat of the chair.” ~ Mary Heaton Vorse

What is Write Club…

Tuesday Write Club is a dedicated writing space that helps us build consistency over time and it’s a place that offers quiet companionship as we work through our creative projects.

What happens in Write Club…

Each Tuesday morning, we meet online, 1000-1200, for two hours of sustained, uninterrupted writing time. This is not a workshop – it’s a structured creative studio designed to support consistent practice.

The structure is simple:

  • A brief welcome to the session
  • A sustained period of quiet, uninterrupted writing
  • A closing space for questions, reflection and discussion.

The philosophy of Write Club

Most writers don’t struggle with ideas. They struggle with consistency, structure, and solitude.

Write Club is therefore built on my five-step plan to creative success:

  1. A daily habit of writing
  2. A feelgood space to write
  3. Make progress not perfection
  4. Permission to write
  5. An encouraging creative community

Write Club will help you

  • Build consistency in your writing life
  • Develop trust in your own process
  • Reduce procrastination and creative resistance
  • Accumulate real pages, not just ideas
  • Stay connected to your work, even when motivation fluctuates
  • Find a community around your writing practice

What you’ll gain at Write Club

  • Wordcount!
  • Joy as you watch your project become reality
  • A sense that writing can be fluid when you simply commit to the page
  • A growing body of work
  • A writing community to support your journey

Join Write Club if you want…

  1. Regular, scheduled writing practice
  2. A supportive creative community
  3. Momentum with your writing project (whatever stage you are at)
  4. To be with like-minded creatives whilst you contemplate and strategise your novel, memoir, short story, life story, journal entry, Substack – or even your academic writing - (I will be using this time to work on my PhD)

Membership

  • R500 monthly subscription (recommended for consistency and momentum)
  • R150 per drop-in session (flexible attendance)

What happens after you join Write Club

Once you sign up, you will receive:

  • A Welcome note from me with the weekly Zoom link
  • You will be added to the Tuesday Write Club WhatsApp group
  • You can begin with the next available Tuesday session

Important to know

Tuesday Write Club is a writing practice space, not a coaching or feedback session.
There is no manuscript critique during the sessions – if you would like editorial or book coaching support, we can chat further about how I can assist you with on-on-one sessions or courses.

Focused Book Coaching Session

A single, high-impact coaching intensive designed to solve your specific story roadblocks, through a focused, one-to-one consultation. This session is designed to help you gain clarity, momentum and deeper insight into your work-in-progress. Together, we will look closely at a section of your writing and explore the areas where you would most value guidance and support.

This might include:

  • Openings, middles or endings
  • Point of view and narration
  • Character development
  • Voice and dialogue
  • Theme, structure and pacing
  • Plot, tension and narrative shape

What to Expect

Before we meet, you will send:

  • A short synopsis of your project
  • An extract from the manuscript
  • Any specific questions or creative challenges you would like us to focus on

I will read and annotate your work in advance. We will then meet online for a 60-minute conversation in which we explore the piece in depth, identify areas for development and discuss practical next steps.

This is an intensive but supportive session designed to help you strengthen your creative direction and move forward with confidence and clarity.

Manuscript Appraisal

A manuscript appraisal offers a thoughtful, in-depth response to your work at any stage of the writing process. Whether you are working on a novel, memoir, non-fiction project or collection of essays or stories, I will read your manuscript carefully and engage with it both as a writer and as an experienced reader of contemporary publishing.

My approach is collaborative, rigorous and encouraging. We will look at the deep architecture of the work: structure, pacing, voice, character development, clarity, tone, narrative momentum and emotional resonance. Most importantly, we’ll think about what you want your manuscript to become, and together, we will move it towards its highest potential.

You will receive detailed written feedback, practical editorial suggestions and clear guidance on your next steps. We can also schedule a follow-up conversation to discuss the work in greater depth and help you move forward with confidence and clarity.

This will suit you if you’d like a big-picture editorial assessment of your manuscript, including strengths, challenges and recommendations for further development.

Ideal for writers seeking direction before a final draft or submission process.

Please contact me to discuss your Manuscript Appraisal.
